Millions Yearling sale in early 2007. Two years later as a 3yo he
started his race career at Port Lincoln. He showed some ability
but was gelded after a run at Port Augusta. A two year break from
the races followed and he returned with a win in a trial as a 5yo at
Port Augusta before being placed at his next 3 starts. After being
freshened he was unplaced at Port Lincoln and then placed third before
two further unplaced runs in November 2011.
The SA Large Hack of the Year was awarded to Radiant and M Haynes from
Happy Hour and S Kennedy with Academy and L Donoghue third.
Radiant was very talented as a racehorse earning over $110,000 in a
career of 49 starts for 6 wins and 7 placings. Starting his career in
Adelaide racing as Puerto Banus he won his second barrier trial before
debuting in the 2yo stakes race the Queen Adelaide Stakes before being
beaten a nose at his second start. Sent to Melbourne he won 2 races as
a spring 3yo before a short autumn campaign and then he missed a year of
racing. Back as a 5yo he changed trainers to P Seater and was back
based in Adelaide where he collected a number of placings before winning
2 races in a row before a number of placings. He returned to the
winners list nearly a year later winning at Murray Bridge before a
placing at Morphettville and was then transferred to S Casey. After a
win at Morphettville he lost form and went for a long spell before
returning for a short 2 race campaign where he was out of form and was
retired to the showring.
Happy Hour was another sold through the Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling
sale and made his race debut as a 3yo known as Blasting. He won at
his second start at Bendigo in December 2010 before a 4th ridden by
Damian Oliver at Sandown and an unplaced effort at Flemington.
After a spell he was unplaced in several starts before seconds at
Bendigo and Seymour in October 2011. Blasting was then
freshened up and returned to the city for an unplaced effort at Moonee
Valley followed by a second at Geelong in December. Two more runs
and a spell and after several more unplaced efforts during the winter he
changed stables to the Adelaide trainer T Snelling. Returning to
the races in early 2013 he couldn't recapture the form of his younger
days and was retired after an unplaced effort at Strathalbyn in March
2013. Four weeks ago he made his showing debut and at the SA HOTY
event won the EA Newcomer Hack of the Year in addition to the runner up
award in the main Hack event.
