One of the biggest meetings of the
year Irish Jumps Jockey Challenge day attracted a huge crowd as can be
seen in the photos below with the action kicking off with Last Bullet
making it two wins from three starts in defeating Eclair Attack in a
hard fought finish.
In the Irish Hurdle Quizman went to the front from Agreement and
Compelled then a gap to Bold Zamour then Angelology followed by About
the Journey and Baklava Boy. In the straight Quizman, Agreement
and Compelled jumped both jumps nearly three abreast then Bold Zamour
and Anegelology together with About the Journey and Baklava Boy at the
rear. By the 1800m Quizman led Agreement then Angelology making
ground on the inside from Compelled then Bold Zamour outside About the
Journey with Baklava Boy last. Agreement took over along the
straight and was soon joined by Compelled then Quizman inside Angelology
followed by Bold Zamour. By the 800m Compelled joined Agreement in
front from Angelology with Baklava Boy out wider and Bold Zamour in
close attendance with About the Journey and Quizman as 2 lengths covered
the entire field. Turning for home Agreement was clear in front as
Baklava Boy was trying to challenge from Compelled as About the Journey
moved up on the inside with Angelology between them. Over the
second last Agreement drifted out with Angelology taking a run on the
inside from About the Journey then Baklava Boy. Over the last
Agreement appeared to move in slightly then Angelology mistimed the jump
losing momentum on landing as About the Journey ran on from Baklava Boy
followed by Bold Zamour. In the run to the line Agreement moved
hard up against the inside rail but had too much in reserve just holding
out About the Journey with Bold Zamour running on well for third from
Compelled.
In the next race Riziz droppe dback in distance from the 1400m Penny
Edition Stakes last week to continue on his winning streak over 1200m in
the next. Riziz now takes his record to 38 starts for 13 wins and 12
placnes and over $800,000 in prizemoney.
The Irish Steeplechase was next where King Triton and Zataglio shared
the early lead from Rabbuka then Divi Fidius followed by Spying on You
and Abraxas. On the home turn on the first lap King Triton
was in front from Zataglio then Rabbuka with a gap to Divi Fidius and
Abraxas. In the straight the first time King Triton was racing
keenly well in front from Zataglio then Rabbuka followed by Abaraxas,
Divi Fidius and Spying on You. Over the jump at the 1200m Zataglio
joined King Triton then Rabbuka with a gap to Abraxas followed by Divi
Fidius then Spying on You. Around the home turn Zataglio kicked
clear from King Triton as Rabbuka started to run on from Spying on You
then Divi Fidius and Abraxas. Over the last Zataglio was in front
as King Triton raised another effort from Rabbuka then Spying on You.
In the run to the line Zataglio fought back to hold the lead to defeat
King Triton with Spying on You grabbing third just ahead of Rabbuka.
One For One made it two in a
row in the next while in the 6th race Lady Hederaj held out the late
charge of Emmooki's Dash to win at massive odds.
Todays meeting for the Irish Jumps jockeys challenge brought the 2015
jumping season which had started way back in March at the Oakbank
preview meeting to a close.
