Morphettville Races - Pictorial Report

29 August  2015

One of the biggest meetings of the year Irish Jumps Jockey Challenge day attracted a huge crowd as can be seen in the photos below with the action kicking off with Last Bullet making it two wins from three starts in defeating Eclair Attack in a hard fought finish.

In the Irish Hurdle Quizman went to the front from Agreement and Compelled then a gap to Bold Zamour then Angelology followed by About the Journey and Baklava Boy.  In the straight Quizman, Agreement and Compelled jumped both jumps nearly three abreast then Bold Zamour and Anegelology together with About the Journey and Baklava Boy at the rear.  By the 1800m Quizman led Agreement then Angelology making ground on the inside from Compelled then Bold Zamour outside About the Journey with Baklava Boy last.  Agreement took over along the straight and was soon joined by Compelled then Quizman inside Angelology followed by Bold Zamour.  By the 800m Compelled joined Agreement in front from Angelology with Baklava Boy out wider and Bold Zamour in close attendance with About the Journey and Quizman as 2 lengths covered the entire field.  Turning for home Agreement was clear in front as Baklava Boy was trying to challenge from Compelled as About the Journey moved up on the inside with Angelology between them.  Over the second last Agreement drifted out with Angelology taking a run on the inside from About the Journey then Baklava Boy.  Over the last Agreement appeared to move in slightly then Angelology mistimed the jump losing momentum on landing as About the Journey ran on from Baklava Boy followed by Bold Zamour.  In the run to the line Agreement moved hard up against the inside rail but had too much in reserve just holding out About the Journey with Bold Zamour running on well for third from Compelled.

In the next race Riziz droppe dback in distance from the 1400m Penny Edition Stakes last week to continue on his winning streak over 1200m in the next. Riziz now takes his record to 38 starts for 13 wins and 12 placnes and over $800,000 in prizemoney.

The Irish Steeplechase was next where King Triton and Zataglio shared the early lead from Rabbuka then Divi Fidius followed by Spying on You and Abraxas.   On the home turn on the first lap King Triton was in front from Zataglio then Rabbuka with a gap to Divi Fidius and Abraxas.  In the straight the first time King Triton was racing keenly well in front from Zataglio then Rabbuka followed by Abaraxas, Divi Fidius and Spying on You.  Over the jump at the 1200m Zataglio joined King Triton then Rabbuka with a gap to Abraxas followed by Divi Fidius then Spying on You.  Around the home turn Zataglio kicked clear from King Triton as Rabbuka started to run on from Spying on You then Divi Fidius and Abraxas.  Over the last Zataglio was in front as King Triton raised another effort from Rabbuka then Spying on You.  In the run to the line Zataglio fought back to hold the lead to defeat King Triton with Spying on You grabbing third just ahead of Rabbuka.

One For One made it two in a row in the next while in the 6th race Lady Hederaj held out the late charge of Emmooki's Dash to win at massive odds.

Todays meeting for the Irish Jumps jockeys challenge brought the 2015 jumping season which had started way back in March at the Oakbank preview meeting to a close.
