The first race was
the Hurdle where Dumosa and Trenchtown settled in front from Best of
Minx then Honour the Force and Macedonian with Sparkling Victory further
back ahead of Bring Them On. Around the turn on the first
lap Dumosa strode to the lead as Trenchtown momentarily eased back from
Best of Minx then followed by Macedonian along the inside. Passing
the post on the first occasion Dumosa led from Trenchtown then Best of
Minx Macedonian and Honour the Force. Aling the back Dumosa led
from Best of Minx then Trenchtown followed by Honour the Force and
Macedonian then Sparkling Victory and Bring Them On as the field started
to pack. BY the 1200m Macedonian had moved around the field to
join Dumosa with Trenchtown next followsed by Best of Minx and the
others making a line of three at the back. Over the 4th last jump
Dumosa & Macedonian led as Sparkling Victory went up to third on the
outside of Trenchtown and Best of Minx. Over the second last
Macedonian had taken control from Dumosa who tried to fight back then
Honour the Force ahead of Sparkling Victory. On landing over the
last Macedonian raced away to record his second win from two starts over
the jumps from Dumosa who again got a little close on takeoff to the
last jump but regained momentum to hold second as Sparkling Victory ran
on to take third ahead of Honour the Force.
Macedonian is from
the Victorian stable of Peter Moody and takes his overall record to 41
starts for 7 wins and 8 placings while both Dumosa and Sparkling Victory
(making his jumps debut) are from local stables as the South Australian
jumping ranks starts to slowly build up (recently around 20 SA trainers
gained their qualifications to train jumpers)
In the
second race after sitting fourth and fifth throughout Print Money was
momentarily blocked on straighting but when the gap appeared he ran on
strongly to defeat Sasenkile with The Yowie third. Print Money is
trained by J O'Connor at Morphettville and is by Publishing from the
Pentire mare Penury and was sold through the Adelaide Magic Millions
sale in 2012.
Due to illness I left after two races so this weeks report will only
feature those races.
