Back to Morphettville where the first
race saw a repeat of a fortnight ago where Viking Ruler was again too
good for Pharomac with previously unbeaten Effcee in third place as the
placegetters finished in racebook order. Race 2 was named in
honour of Mario Ionni who was the racetrack curator notable at Victoria
Park (where while it was a racetrack they had a seat dedicated in his
honour) who passed away recently. Silent Attitude was too good
racing away to win from Mr Lowndes with Our Sphinx third. Silent
Attitude has now taken her record to 15 starts for 4 wins and 9 placings.
The third race saw the first race of
the season for the 2yos and the determined winner Excites Zelady proved
that lightning can strike twice. Chris Bieg purchased one horse
from the 2011 Adelaide yearling sales which turned into the early season
2yo winner Dashitude who then went on to became a stakeswinner later on
in the season. He went back to the sales again early this year and
purchased Excites Zelady who has like his stablemae won an early sason
2yo race. Highly fancied The Voice was second with Typhoon third.
In the fourth race the Tony McEvoy trained Mouro made his debut.
Bred in the US this entire was imported from France where he had
finished second and first at his only two race starts. Despite
being a bit green in the straight he easily went past Sabres inside the
final 50 metres to win impressively with Avoca Street third.
El Magico continued in his winning
form taking his record to 5 starts for 4 wins and a third in the next
while Meadows Jim defeated St Fraser in race 6. Texan Warney
showed he is well forward this campaign by storming home to win from
Eclair Surprise taking his record to 49 starts for 11 wins and 12
placings while the last race went to Almighty Bullet who made it two
wins in a row.
