Periduki was
on the 7 day back up and it was a repeat of last weeks effort taking out
his second race in a row this preparation and win number 21 over from 69
starts with 12 placings. Periduki defeated Dragon Lord with recent
Flamington winner Belfast Boy third. Another small field lined up
for the second race The Listed Queen Adelaide Stakes which saw the
Victorian first starter from the Mark Kavanagh stable Za Moulin Rouge
prove too good winning from Sworn Revenge with Topaque third.
Victorian success
continued with the Patrick Payne stable taking out the next with Baron
Douro ridden by Michelle Payne who has recently returned after an injury
enforced absence. Baron Duke is by New Zealand sire Bachelor Duke
and in defeating Action Again an St Fraser took his record to 13 starts
for 5 wins and 2 placings. In the fourth race River's Lane defied
the strong challenge from Juliet's Princess all the way down the
straight to be caught right on the line by the consistent Little Akie
(by Akadan) who has now won 7 from 20 starts.
The prize
went to Victoria again in the 5th race where Digitalism (by Fastnet
Rock) was successful for the John Sadler stable defeating Adjuster with
Spiritof Endeavour third. The Rain Lover Plate was next and this
race was once a lead in to the Adelaide Cup but has since lost its black
type status unfortunately. However this years attracted a class
field including 4 last start winners and it was one of these runners who
in Tabulated who was ultimately victorious. Tabulated like
Periduki was on the 7 day back up after winning last week and went to
the line a length clear of Generous Beau with My Ex Mate third.
