Sired by the Golden Slipper winner Stratum this filly is from the Encosta De Lago mare Ares De Lago who is from the family of Mnemosyne and Full On Aces.  She was offered by Kambula Stud and purchased by Prime Thoroughbreds Vic for $47,500.

Lot 36 Choisir - Bedouin Dancer

(raced as Winning Dancer in Hong Kong and The Chancer in Australia in 2014 - winner of 3 races)

From the impressive female family of Verdi, Kenvain, Mr Murphy, Rigoletto, Charming City etc this colt is from the Al Hareb mare Bedouin Dancer and sired by outstanding young sire Choisir.  A half brother to four winners he was offered by Emerald Thoroughbreds and purchased by Mark Young Vic for $25,000. 

Lot 41 General Nediym - Biloba

(raced as Sassy Sheila - winner)

Offered by Mill Park this filly is from Biloba who is yet to be represented on the racetrack but is from the family of Desert War, Wookah, Wonderer, etc.  She is sired by General Nediym who has produced over 20 stakeswinners including Regimental Gal, Victory Chant, Sidereus, etc.  She was passed in for 27,500 on a reserve of $40,000 

Lot 45 Fastnet Rock - Bonbird

(Raced as Our Bird Rocks winner now at stud)

A member of the Lindsay Park draft this filly is a member of the second crop of  the Group 1 winning sprinter Fastnet Rock.  She is from the Bluebird mare Bonbird and is from the family of Flitter.  She was purchased by Nick Olive NSW for $32,000.

Lot 50 Cape Cross - Boston

(named Zac Supreme sent to Singapore 2011)

Sired by Cape Cross who has produced over 45 stakeswinners including Seachange and Ouija Board this colt is from the Zoffany mare Boston who is from the family of Raami.  Offered by Attunga Stud he was purchased by Cliff Brown Singapore for $42,000.

Lot 57 Magic Albert - Candelina

(named Wax'n'Polish in Aust and Lucky Young Ones in Hong Kong exported 2011)

Offered by Brooklyn Park Stud this colt is by Magic Albert, the sire of Gr 1 winner Magic Cape, from the Eire mare Candelina who has produced one to race for one winner.  He was purchased by Aquanita Racing for $54,000.

Lot 78 Shamardal - Country Eagle

(named Hasta La Shamer winner of 6 races and over $100,000)

From the family of Miss Jugah, Exclusive Halo, etc this colt is by the Storm Cat line stallion Shamardal who was rated the European 2yo Champion from the Timber Country mare Country Eagle whose oldest progeny is a 2yo.  Offered by Mill Park he was purchased by Sue Murphy SA for $35,000.

Lot 89 Hidden Dragon - Degree

This colt's second dam is Fold who is also the second dam of the Champion racehorse Fields of Omagh (winner of the WS Cox Plate twice) plus stakeswinners Malcolm, King Brian, Timeless Grace and the stakesplaced Infinate Charm who produced stakeswinner Infinate Grace.  He is a member of the first crop of Danehill stallion Hidden Dragon who was a stakeswinner in Hong Kong.  Offered by Kirkliston Stud he was purchased by David Balfour for $$30,000.

 

Lot 99 Hidden Dragon - Donnabelle

(named Gold Plus exported to SIngapore 2011)

Also sired by Hidden Dragon this colt is from the Clang mare Donnabelle has had two previous foals with one a winner in Malaysia.  Offered by Kambula Stud he was purchased by Magic Millions as Agent for $42,000.

Lot 106 Secret Savings - Elegant Court

(raced as Count of Zurich)

Sired by successful sire Secret Savings this colt is from the Kenmare mare Elegant Court who has produced three winners and her second dam is Taiona who produced 9 winners including the VRC Derby & Caulfield Guineas winner Sovereign Red, Melbourne Cup winner Gurner's Lane plus Trichelle and the winning dam of Foxwood who in turn produced stakeswinner Rockwood.  Offered by Ducatoon Park he was purchased by Hancock Quality Bloodstock for $55,000.

Lot 110 Choisir - Esmini

(raced as Choisini Lass exported to China 2010)

With a flaxen mane and tail and the white markings this filly immediately brought back memories of the speedy progeny of Rory's Jester.  She is by the star sprinter Choisir from the Lake Coniston mare Esmini and is from the family of Blixen, Kiwi Princess, Lusso and Laranto.  Offered by Supreme Thoroughbreds she was passed in for $28,000 with a reserve of $40,000.

Lot 113 Reset - Excitant

(raced as Set to Excite - winner)

This outstanding colt was offered by Mill Park and was sold to Mark Kavanagh for $105,000 and was the top selling yearling of the first session and the top selling colt of the sale.  Sired by the unbeaten Zabeel stallion Reset he is from the Rory's Jester mare Excitant and is a half brother to the stakesplaced Gladwell.

Lot 127 Keep the Faith - Furia

(raced as Fort Apache)

From the first crop of Keep the Faith (by Sunday Silence) this colt was offered by Swettenham Stud and was purchased by Shaun Mathrick Vic for $30,000.  He is from the Thunder Gulch mare Furia who was from Furama Nights winner of the Dermody Stakes and grandam to the stakeswinner Pleasantsundaygirl.  It is also the family of Mikki Street and the champion galloper Super Impose.  

Lot 133 Reset - Gift Bouquet

(raced as Regifted - at stud)

Offered by Tori Park Stud this filly is by Reset from the King's High mare Gift Bouquet who has had 5 to race for four winners including the stakeswinners Blahnik & Elysees.  She was purchased by Kim Harrison & Jon O'Connor for $80,000 who have trained both the above stakeswinners plus Monfils a winning half sister.

Lot 140 Jet Spur - Goolash

(died June 2009)

By the first season Flying Spur stallion Jet Spur this colt is from the Encosta De Lago mare Goolash and is her first foal.  He was offered by Kambula Stud and was purchased by Magic Millions as Agent for $47,500.

Lot 145 Danbird - Gulchwood

(named Red Hare exported to SIngapore 2009)

Offered by Eliza Park this colt is by the young sire Danbird from the Thunder Gulch mare Gulchwood who has produced three to race for three winners and a placegetter.  He is from the family of Emit Time, Clear Day and his second dam is the stakeswinner Miss Woodleigh.  He was purchased by Magic Millions as Agent for $50,000.

Lot 146 Danehill Dancer - Head Girl

This nicely bred filly is by the Danehill stallion Danehill Dancer from the Encosta De Lago mare Head Girl and is the first foal of her dam.  Her 3rd dam is the outstanding galloper and broodmare Bound to Honour who produced 5 winners including the stakesplaced Travel In Front who in turn produced the stakeswinners Long Dollar and Bound to Travel.  Offered by Grange Thoroughbreds she was purchased by Kim Harrison & Jon O'Connor for $40,000.

Lot 152 Dubai Destination - Hip Hop

This filly is from the Success Express mare Hip Hop and is a half sister to Tramuntana who was placed in the Gr 1 Oakleigh plate in addition to numerous race wins and was holding his own in the recent Newmarket Hcp.  She is by the Kingmambo stallion Dubai Destination who has produced over 80 winners from over 190 starters.  Offered by Caithness Breeding she was purchased by Greg McFarlane NSW for $70,000.

Lot 158 Testa Rossa - Hot Gig

(raced as Gigstar won 2 races)

Offered by Baramul Stud this colt is by Testa Rossa from the Best Western mare Hot Gig who has produced three winners from 5 to race.  The colt is from the family of star sprinter Armidale, Sydney Cup winner Double Century and other stakes performers Blazing Keel, Century Love, etc.  He was purchased by Mark Pilkington Bloodstock for $61,000.

A member of the first crop of Starcraft this filly is from If I So Desire who has produced 5 winners from 6 to race and is from the family of NH stakeswinners Genuine, Aly's Question, Van Nistelrooy, Premier Question, etc.  Offered by Lindsay Park Stud this filly was purchased by David Jolly for $20,000.

This colt is the second foal of Keltrice mare Keluca who is from Nemuca dam of multiple winning sprinter Mal Nemuca and from the family of Lady of Perfection.  He is a member of the second crop of the champion galloper Elvstroem who won the VRC Derby, Dubai Duty Free, Caulfield Cup, etc.  Offered by Ballarto Lodge he was passed in for $45,000 reserve $50,000.

Offered by Caithness Breeding this colt was the sole offering sired by the WS Cox Plate winner Savabeel and is from the stakeswinning Khozaam mare Khopromise.  From the family of Luskin Star this colt was purchased by Mark Young Vic for $48,000.

Lot 186 More Than Ready - Lazulia

(raced as Bertucci won 5 races)

Sired by More Than Ready this colt was offered by Baramul Stud and was the third highest selling lot of the sale.  He is from the Zabeel mare Lazulia and is her first foal but his third dam is the wonderful racemare and producer Skating who has produced 9 foals for 7 winners including the stakeswinners Murtajill, Sunset Run, Bradbury's Luck plus the stakesplaced winners Dubai Ice, Tordean and Skates dam of Group 1 winner Juste Momente.  He was purchased by Lloyd Kennewell for $100,000.

Lot 192 Choisir - Lin O'Dee

(named Deechoir in Aust and then The Big Dee in Singapore exported 2011)

Offered by AJ Crabb & Sons P/L this colt is by Choisir from the Euclase mare Lin O'Dee who has foaled three winners including the stakesplaced The Big Gee who has won over 8 races in Australia and Singapore and the stakesplaced Go Lizzy who was badly injured in running in the HC Nitschke Stakes but still battled on to run fifth.  He was purchased by Magic Millions as Agent for $70,000.

Lot 196 Hussonet - Luanda Star

Offered by Swettenham Stud this filly is by Hussonet (sire of stakeswinners such as Host (standing in Australia), Weekend Hussler, Reaan, etc) from the Danzig Connection mare Luanda Star who is a half sister to stakeswinners Lolita Star and Berezny.  She was passed in for $38,000 reserve $45,000

By Royal Academy the sire of over 150 stakeswinners this colt is from the Quest for Fame mare Lung Tah and is her first foal.  Offered by Ducatoon Park he was purchased by John Foote Bloodstock Qld for $46,000.

Offered by Ballarto Lodge this filly is by Reset from Hennessy mare Miss Bud who is from the family of Flying Spur, Encosta De Lago, Musidora and Bally Bleue.  She was passed in for $50,000 with a reserve of $60,000.

Offered by Baramul Stud this filly is by Testa Rossa from the Zabeel mare Mother Flame who has produced the winner Yoobabe and is from the family of Fooram, Estimable, Sovereign Red, Trichelle, Gurner's Lane, etc.  She was purchased by Mark Young Vic for $45,000.

This strong colt is the first foal of the Zabeel mare One Kiss and is from the family of Might and Power, Miss Power Bird, Matter of Honour, Lucky Owners, etc.  A member of the first crop of Stratum he was offered by Attunga Stud and was purchased by Bert Viera NSW for $54,000.

Lot 251 Choisir - Out 'n' About

(named Dancing About)

Offered by Kiah Glenn as agent this filly is by Choisir from the Without Fear mare Out 'n' About and is a half sister to the star SA sprinter Lazing About and three other winners.  She was purchased by John Hyam for $28,000.

Lot 252 Keep the Faith - Paris Perfume

(exported to China 2009)

This colt is by first season sire Keep the Faith and is the first foal of Paris Perfume from the family of NH stakeswinners Cape Cross, Russian Rhythm, Diktat, Park Appeal, etc.  Offered by Lindsay Park Stud this colt was passed in just failing to reach his reserve.

Offered by Lindsay Park Stud this colt is by General Nediymn from the Jeune stakeswinning mare Prancelot and is her first foal.  He was passed in for $50,000 with a reserve of $55,000.

Also by Barely a Moment winner of three Group 1s including the Toorak Hcp was this colt from Snippets mare Recollection who has produced three foals to race for three winners.  Offered by Willow Grove Stud he was purchased by Ken Sweeney for $45,000 who has had success with the earlier half relations.

 

Lot 285 Southern Image - Risk Seeker

Offered by Mill Park this colt is from the Australian first crop of Southern Image and the the first foal of Galileo mare Risk Seeker.  He is from the family of Spice Doll and Oxford Dollar and was purchased by Leon MacDonald for 25,000.

Also offered by Mill Park was this filly by Cape Cross from the Sadler's Wells mare Rockabella Baby and this is her first foal.  From the family of Brocco, Relish the Thought, Secret Charm, etc she was purchased by Todd Balfour for $21,000.

Offered by Swettenham Stud as agent was this filly by Keep the Faith from Royal Jama.  Her third dam is the stakeswinner Beaumont Babe who produced Skybeau, Classy Babe (dam of Devil Moon) and Natchez amongst her 7 winners.  She was purchased by Mark Kavanagh for $56,000.

Sired by Danewin this colt is from the Export Prince mare Violet Haze and is her first living foal.  From the family of Notoire, Well Known, Tullamarine, River Mist, etc he was offered by Sylvandale and was purchased by Paul Beshara for $46,000

Lot 391 Show a Heart - Woman Eyes

The second last foal through the ring of the select session was this filly who is the first foal of Woman Eyes from the family of Blevvo, True Spirit and Spirit of Hope.  Offered by Ducatoon Park this filly by Show a Heart was purchased by Barry Dunn for $50,000.

Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling Sales

YEARLING PHOTOGRAPHS from the Select and Summer Sessions

If you have purchased a yearling sold through the recent Adelaide Magic Millions sales and you are looking for photos taken during the sales week  I can be contacted via email on barnesphotography@bigpond.com.  Many yearlings were photographed for this Virtual Formguide report but most of the others offered for sale were photographed walking in and around the parade ring. 

Photographs taken during sales week are used on the Virtual Formguide and national printed publications in reviews of the sale.  Later they are used in these racing pictorials when the yearlings go on to racetrack success.
