After a couple of very spring like days the weather for 2024 held up
throughout the week as there was plenty of action on the main arena.
Hacks
Best Novice Hack went to D Warde, C Whiteley & C Lindemann's Tom Ford.
Tom Ford raced as Military Academy (by Snitzel) where he was passed in
at the Sydney Easter Yearling sales with a reserve of $240,000. He
went on to have 28 reace starts for 2 wins at Hawkesbury and 10
placings. Champion Hack went to A Kent & G Gerry's Regalia who
also went to to take the Best in Show award. Regalia (by Maurice)
raced as Aunt Bridge for 11 starts for 2 seconds at Nowra, Albury and
Corowa before being reitred in early 2023. Reserve Champion Hack went to
S Merry & J Clark's Royal Fair who raced as Sirkos. Bred in
Germany by Monsun (sire of Melbourne Cup winners Protectionist, Fiorente
and Americain) he started his racing career in Germany before racing in
France as a 3yo. Purchased by Australian interests he was imported
in late 2016 but didnt race here until March 2019. In Europe
he had won 2 races from 4 starts with one placing while in Australia he
won his 4th start a 2100m race at Geelong. After a further7 runs
in April 2020 he was retired.. The Hack Premier Award went to D
Plumb's DP Florentine who raced as Wicked Trilogy. A race record
of 57 starts for 5 wins and 16 placings saw Wicked Trilogy start racing
in Queensland before later heading to Victoria for 3 seasons over the
jumps winning a Hurdle at Ballarat in 2019. Ex
racehorses made a clean sweep of the headline hack classes this year.
Best Novice Galloway Hack was
awarded to M Paynter's Waterford Park Heat Wave. Champion Galloway Hack went to
A Giustozzi's Penbury Park Times Square while Reserve Champion Galloway
Hack went to W Warke & S Gilmour's HeadleyPark Black Label. Champion Ridden Shetland Pony was
awarded to Tamrie Park & E Lee's Chateau Gay Gallagher whiile Reserve
Champion went to S& S Mullan Wright's Korawyn So Si Bon. Best
Novice Pony Hack was taken out by E Richardson's Melody Ark Heaven's
Empire. Champion Pony
Hack ne 12.2hh was awarded to Riemer Family's Riegal Sugar Plum while
Reserve Champion went to D Plumb's DP Party. Champion Pony Hack
12.2hh - 14hh went to D Plumb's DP Victoria Secret while Reserve
Champion went to C Gale's Royalwood Enchanting.
Best Novice Show Hunter Horse was awarded to Tamrie Park & E Lee's
Bloomfield Furst Valor. Champion Show
Hunter Horse went to A Merry's Regal Quest while T Scaife's DS Daenarys was named
Reserve Champion Show Hunter Horse. Show Hunter Premier Award went
to M Fox's TT who raced as Lethal Turbo in Ireland for 3 starts for 1
win and 1 placing before being sold to Hong Kong. He was unraced
in HK and sent to Australia for retirement. Best Novice Show Hunter
Galloway was won by Hi Pine Equestrian Centre's Hi Pine Temptation while Champion Show
Hunter Galloway went to M Haynes, D Quayle & K Reid's Lily's Sovereign
for the second year in a row with Reserve going to D Plumb's DP Royal
Ascot and Beyond.
Best Novice Show Hunter Pony went to A Kent & S Beaumont's Panorama
Queen Bee who also took out Reserve Champion Show Hunter Pony 12.2 to
14hh.
Champion Show Hunter Pony ne 12.2hh was taken out by P Natale's Karlana
Spring Chatter with Reserve Champion going to Tamrie Park & T Lee's
Imperial Valais.
Champion Show Hunter Pony 12.2-14hh was awarded to E Richardson's
Beaufort Tiffany. Rider
Champion Junior Rider 14-18 years went to S Mullan Wright with S Gilmour named
Reserve Champion. Champion Senior Rider went to A Kent with A
Stella taking out Reserve Champion. Champion Rider under 14 years
went to L Alt while Reserve Champion went to M Hunt.
Thoroughcare Racehorse to Show horse classes
A Kent & G Gerry's Regalia also took out
Racehorse to Show Horse Champion Hack. Reserve Champion Hack went
to C Lawrie & S Merry's Swan Lake. Racehorse to Show Horse Champion
Show Hunter went to F McIntyre's Westminster with Reserve Champion Show Hunter going to
M Fox's TT . Fashions Off the Track a led event was awarded to C&V
Fricker's Landsdowne.
C Lawrie & S Merry' Swan Lake raced as Starouz (by Zoustar) and had 42
starts for 6 wins and 14 placings. He started his race career in
Melbourne and was placed at stakes level before winning at
Morphettville. He returned to racing in Victoria perfomring
consistantly without winning. In late 2021 he then went to Darwin
later winning in Alice Springs and Tennant Creek before retiring in
April 2023.
F McIntyre's Westminster raced as The Arod and had 57 races for 4 wins
and 8 placings. He won at Geelong in his first season but was soon
sent to the Canberra area to continue his career. After winning at
Quenabeyan and a number of placings in the south eastern racing area
over the next 3 years he later moved to Queensland. FInding form
he won two in Mackay in mid 2018 before briefly heading to country NSW.
In 2019 he had moved back to Victoria where he race over jumps for two
seasons and while he showed form in trials he didnt reproduce in races
and was retired in May 2020.
C&V Fricker's Landsdowne raced as Mauney. With 3 race starts
and 4 trials over 2 seasons in country NSW Mauney didnt show ability on
the raceourse and was retired.
S Merry & J Clarke's SLM Styles (class winnner) raced as Steel Gaze (by
PIerro) and had 7 starts for 7 unplaced runs in 2023 and was
retired.
